A burgeoning addiction…

This has the potential to get out of hand. I now walk with my head down for fear I miss an elusive 1964 quarter in the parking lot.

Picked a middle of the road metal detector recently, so clearly, the habit is being fed. Only the dog days of Iowa winter are holding me back.

Cache treasures excite me now much like Kari Wuhrer did in my formative years.

Big becomes little(er)…

Downloading anything usually creates some tension with me.  There is usually a hiccup, and then once done, it’s often a trek to go and find said gem on the computer in question.  Google Earth provided me neither of these problems. It did create a day of not getting a goddam thing done.

With some hints from the legend, some clues from maps and geography, and some toying with Google Earth, you can almost literally see where the cache is buried.  Assuming it’s buried at all.  (Minor details).

In messing with Google Earth to use simply as a tool in this minor adventure the “team” intends to embark on, I think I’ve narrowed our beginning location down by a looong ways.  Using the treasure legend, I was able to confirm that such a spot certainly can exist and is precisely where it claims it could be.  The geography, the distance and the situation all appear to be inline with the tale.

This does nothing but excite me.

I can literally see the path the individual would have taken.  So much so, that there is currently a road almost exactly along the route that would have needed to be taken due to terrain.  It all makes sense.  On paper.

It’s becoming a large pale fish…..

Large pale fish?    Has a sort of “ring” to it…….

progressing…

The planning stages for the excursion are going as well as could be expected. We (think) we’ve narrowed down a prospective location and a location for prospecting.  No details…yet.

The team is compiling gear, materials, current and old maps that should aid us in the prospecting portion moreso that the prospective location.

I can say that we will be following a relatively well known treasure “tale” in the midwest, that by most accounts is accurate and true.  The location is vague, of course, but close enough just to tickle our brains.

Will be meeting again in a couple weeks in order to plan more and brainstorm and rehash the old hash.  Will start to trickle in grocery lists of supplies, thought patterns, team strengths/weaknesses and pics…once I figure out how the hell to do such.

This blog is a little too tech for me, but I’m getting there.  As are we.
